One of life's little mysteries

WHY???

Why do people at work get in a lift only to go up or down ONE floor???
What's wrong with the stairs that are next to the lift??
Have we become a society of such sloths and sluggarts that we're not even willing to take the effort to walk up or DOWN one flight of stairs???

What i don't get even more is that people complain about how long it takes for a lift to come, and yada yada yada, but are willing to wait up to 5 minutes for a lift to take them just one floor!
I can understand if people have a big pile of folders or paperwork to carry, but when they have one slim folder??!! it just amuses and befuddles me..

why????
