What a Difference a Day Made

Great song...
Great lyrics...
Great jazz piano (I wish I could play like him!!!)

What a Difference a Day Made
Jamie Cullum

What a difference a day made,
Twenty four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there use to be rain
My yesterday was blue dear
Today I'm a part of you dear
My lonely nights are through dear
Since you said you were mine
Oh, what a difference a day made
There's a rainbow before me
Skies above can't be stormy
Since that moment of bliss
That thrilling kiss
It's heaven when you find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made
And the difference is you, is you

Tired... but rested...

Wow... what a weekend...
I think i've come out of the weekend more tired than I was going into it!!
But what a weekend...

started with finishing work for the week... (woohoo!!), reading Leviticus 20
with Ben,
dinner at the Lowenbrau with friends
walking off all the sausages, veal, schnitzels and pork belly around
circular quay...
going to Opera Bar only to find no live "jazz" just DJ funk...
having mango and guava gelato from gelatissimo (YUM!)
taking a very very short ferry ride to Milson's Pt and Luna Park!!
Perving at a D2X... (drooooollllll :P~~~~~)
making silly faces and playing with mobile phone cameras and videos...
sitting and enjoying the beauty that is the harbour that we live in...
enjoying at marvelling at God's creation...

and that's just Friday night!!!!!!

Saturday...
music practise with the "boy band"...
less is more...
guitar and 3 guy voices...
singing and making sweet harmonious music (mostly!!!) to the Lord... :)
taking the long train to Mortdale...
meeting with an engaged couple...
talking about wedding photography...
getting my first wedding photography gig lined up!!!! (Woot!!!!)
trying to read Paul Barnett's commentary of 2 Cor on the train home...
falling asleep reading the commentary... :P
getting stuffed on Fish and Chips for lunch...
falling asleep and waking up with a dead arm!!!
hanging with friends, looking at holiday piccis...
commiserating over yet "another" wallaby loss...
lounging around and watching "The Perfect Score" on DVD... :)

Sunday...
waking up early for our Boy Band "performance" at morning service at
Auburn...
rushing back to Burwood for sunday school...
getting mobbed by crazy year 5 and 6 kids asking LOTS and LOTS of
questions!!
trying to teach a Sunday School lesson on Abram and Sarai not trusting in
God's promises and taking things into their own hands without much or any
prep!! (i learnt my lesson there!!!)
stuffing my self on char siew, siew ngap fan...
feeling very very full and drowsy after lunch...
sleeping for 90 mins..
waking up and crawling back to church for evening service...
being reminded of the glory of God seen in His Creation...
stuffing myself with dinner again... :P
sharing in fellowship...
chatting, encouraging and sharing about the weekend on the phone...
getting 8 hours sleep!!!!

PHEW!

I'm tired....
but i'm rested... i'm content... and i'm happy...

Psalm 8

O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
above the heavens.

2 From the lips of children and infants
you have ordained praise
because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,

4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?

5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet:

7 all flocks and herds,
and the beasts of the field,

8 the birds of the air,
and the fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

9 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Emotionally empty...

2 long and emotionally deep and draining conversations in 2 nights has taken a lot out of me...

Both different chats, both good chats, and both very necessary chats...
but both, emotionally draining..........

2 different outcomes as well....
2 good outcomes.....

2 different roads....
2 different journeys......

but now feeling very "bleh"...
wanting to just sink into my mattress and let my bed swallow me....

feeling tired....
feeling drained.... (a bit like when Austin Powers lost his mojo)

gotto recharge my batteries...

I need a hug.... :)

BLEH...............

Where You Are
~ FFH ~

In this quiet place again
I can hear You on the wind
Whispering to me

In this quiet place again
I have found a friend
Who understands me

Where You are is where I want to be
In Your arms You will comfort me
Far away from everything I used to be
You know I have come do far
To be where You are

In this quiet place again
You're speaking to my heart
And I can know Your will

In this quiet place again
You tell me from the start
Follow and I will

I love this song....
making me feel so much better already...

there's nothing like being wrapped in the embrace of the love of Christ :)

What a day!!!

Started off the morning yesterday with yet another glorious sunrise shoot at Bradley's Head...

then a BIIIGGGG breakfast at Crows Nest (I forget the cafe)...

and then...

stumbling across Robert Billington's gallery...
went in a had a good looksee at his work...
and guess what?! he was there in the gallery!!!

took me a while to pluck up courage, but i eventually approached him and asked him about the photo on the cover of his book.
He was really really open and friendly in divulging and sharing about how he came to take that shot. It was really awesome and inspiring to have had the priviledge to just pick at this master photographer's brain for a few short minutes. I wish I'd had more time to listen to him, and even more so just watch and learn about how he approaches his craft.

To top it off, he gave me a postcard of the shot "Sydney Star" and even autographed it for me!! What a thrill and treat!!!!

What was amazing is that we literally just happened upon the gallery, and I only recognised the name because I had seen a copy of his book at Kinokuniya just a couple of weeks before, and that photo just really grabbed and intruiged me... what's more... it was by total chance that he was in the gallery that morning because he had only flown back in from overseas the day before!!

all I can say is WOW..........

I think i learnt that it never hurts to just pluck up some courage and approach such people. you never know what you will learn from them....

after that it was back to T's place to get stuck into finishing off a wedding album... and finish it we finally did at 10pm!! YAY!!!!
such a great feeling of relief and accomplishment having completed such a demanding task... :)

then to top the night off, lounging around watching the cricket and chatting while sipping on a nice hot cup of milo....

what a day..... :)

The place of The Law

Read Leviticus 19 with Ben this arvo, and we were pondering over how and if The Law still applies to us today. Because obviously there are some laws that do not, eg. growing trees in a foreign land, you can't eat its fruit in the first 3 years, in the 4th, it is an offering to the Lord, only in the 5th year can you eat of its fruit. (Lev 18:23) But there are others that are still applicable today. Like not degrading your daughter into prostitution (Lev 18:29)

How does one "pick and choose" which laws apply, and which don't? You can't. We are not in a position of ANY authority where we can pick and choose which laws to obey.

So how do we regard the Old Testament law? It is still valid? Do we still have to obey it? What purpose does it serve?

The short answer to this question is "by grace"...

We know that the law is not obslete because Jesus himself said, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" - Matt 5:17

and also that "we are not under law but under grace" - Rom 6:14

We found the following comment from Peter Jensen (Archbishop of Sydney) most helpful. I quote...

"One of the uses of God's law is that of a spiritual miror in which we may examine oursleves and find out the truth... it needs to be interpreted in the light of the whole Bible - and of course Christians have been set free from the condemnation of the law. But the law still enables us to know ourselves and to know what pleases the Lord..." - Southern Cross Aug 2005, pg 6.
